Dance Teacher

Woodlawn Arts Academy is seeking a part-time dance teacher to teach hip hop, jazz and tap to all levels. Woodlawn Dance Academy teaches age 3 through adult. Most classes run in the late afternoons and evenings, Monday-Thursday, and you will have the option to teach daytime summer camps and workshops, as well.

Dance Coordinator

Woodlawn Arts Academy is seeking a full-time dance coordinator.

We are an inspiring place to be; our staff and participants come to find their home among artistic minds and other passionate people. The Academy is an environment full of constant innovation and adventure, growing and changing with the arts as well as the needs of our community. Our staff appreciates the scheduling flexibility, family-oriented environment, and openness to any ideas and programming.

Woodlawn Dance Academy (a division of Woodlawn Arts Academy) instructs students from ages 3-adult. Currently the studio is focused on the genres of ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, modern, contemporary, lyrical, creative movement and hip hop. A common curriculum is followed, but instructors choreograph and implement their own combinations and routines. The Academy has a competition and performance team for those students that choose dance above other activities. Woodlawn Dance Academy prides itself on giving as much time and energy into the recreational programming as the competitive programming. Respect for participants in each of their individual dance goals is required.

The Position
The position of dance coordinator will start June 1st of 2022, with some flexible training hours during the spring. The dance coordinator would have generally 40-hour work weeks that include up to 3 evenings of dance instruction (traditionally 4-8pm) and around 30 hours per week of administrative and event functions. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred. They should also have experience in customer service, dance education, and general computer knowledge. Benefits include sick days, personal days and vacation days; temporary housing may also be available. Starting salary range between $25,000-$30,000 based on education and experience.

Piano Teacher

Woodlawn Arts Academy is seeking a piano teacher!  Hours are flexible, and must be able to teach both children and adults at all levels.

Preschool Assistant Teacher

The Woodlawn Preschool Academy Assistant Teacher works under the Lead Teacher and supervises preschool students in the classroom. This person assists with the implementation of lesson plans. Because the Woodlawn Preschool Academy is an arts-based program, applicants should have knowledge and appreciation of the arts. This is a part-time position that may range from 9-15 hours per week depending on enrollment. Currently this is a school-year position, with class from late August to early May.

Minimum requirements: Associate’s degree plus successful early childhood experience preferred. High school diploma required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Aids lead teacher to implement lesson plans based on Creative Curriculum and the Early Childhood Learning Standards.
  • Assists with maintaining records and student information in an organized fashion.
  • Complies with DCFS classroom standards.
  • Maintains classroom cleanliness and organization.
  • Assists with basic care needs for all students.
  • Attends all afterschool performances and activities.
  • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with students, parents and other staff.
  • Attends all meetings and trainings for Woodlawn Arts Academy.
  • Attends trainings to comply with DCFS.
