Join Woodlawn Dance Academy

Woodlawn Dance Academy is an established dance studio that is proud to serve the Sauk Valley area. It is housed at Woodlawn Arts Academy, which is a state-of-the-art facility featuring three professionally equipped dance studios, including wood sprung floors, designed to keep dancers safe. Woodlawn Dance Academy offers many styles of dance for ages 3 & up. Our program is a school-year program, with registration opening in late July or early August for the first session.

Registration

Registration for the first session is held at Woodlawn Arts Academy starting with a registration day in late July or early August. Check the fall program guide for exact dates and times.

If you have never taken a class with Woodlawn Arts Academy, you can speed up the registration process by creating a family account online prior to registration day.

Registering on registration day is recommended as classes will fill. However, registration is available until the first day of class.

Families unable to attend Registration Day may turn in registration forms (download a printable registration form here) and payment to the office no later than the Wednesday prior to Registration Day. Registrations will be processed during the appropriate time slot on Registration Day, as time allows. Please note that doing this may prevent you from getting your top choices for classes. NO call-ins will be accepted on registration day!

Registration information for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th sessions will be emailed during the preceding session.

What do these colors mean?

Our recitals will be pink, blue and yellow. Please note the recital color assigned to each class when choosing classes and registering. Classes listed in white will be in all 3 recitals. (Please note: Modern/Contemporary and Musical Theatre WILL perform in all three 2027 recitals, per this updated schedule. The schedule originally printed in the fall 2026 program guide was incorrect.) Classes in gray will not perform in the recital. If family and friends would prefer to all be in the same recital, be sure to choose classes with the same designated color. When registering, please be prepared with 1st and 2nd options for classes. Days and times for each color will be announced in the early spring of 2027. Conflicts on picture, rehearsal and recital days are to be turned in to Becky by January 29, 2027.

Recital Recording Fee

A one-time recital recording fee per family will be charged at the time of Session 1 registration. Families may choose to pay $30 for a digital copy or $45 for a Blu-Ray Disc of one dance recital. Additional recordings and recital tickets can be purchased closer to recital time.

Session 1 payments are due at the time of registration. PAYMENT PLANS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SESSION 2.

School-Year Expenses

The following expenses may be associated with participation in the school-year dance program.

Required Expenses

  • Class Tuition: Four tuition payments made to Woodlawn, due every 8 weeks
  • Recital Recording Fee: Paid to WAA at fall registration and includes one digital or Blu-ray copy of the dance recital
  • Dancewear: Typically a black leotard and tights, purchased by the family
  • Dance Shoes: Purchased by the family
  • Dance Costume: Paid to WAA in two installments: $50 deposit with 2nd session registration, and remaining balance with 3rd session registration

Optional Expenses

  • Dancewear Accessories: Black skirts, shorts, and/or pants purchased by the family
  • Dance Pictures: Optional and paid directly to a third-party photography provider
  • Recital Tickets: Purchased through Centennial Auditorium
  • WDA Apparel: Optional clothing sales are offered twice each year

Past-Due Enrollments & Past-Due Payments

Due to insurance regulations, if your child is not formally registered with payment for a particular session, we cannot allow the child to continue the class until payment is made. This also applies if a failed payment occurs for anyone enrolled in our monthly payment plan option (see below). If extenuating circumstances arise, please contact the Front Desk Manager to make special arrangements.

Payment Plan Options

Tuition for Session 1, plus the recital recording fee, must be paid in full at the time of registration. For Sessions 2-4, Woodlawn Arts Academy offers three payment options:

  • Session option: Students may register prior to each 8-week session. A $50 per dance costume deposit is due along with the Session 2 payment. The costume balance is due along with the Session 3 payment.
  • Monthly option: Register for all classes for Sessions 2-4 and have your payment automatically withdrawn from your account monthly. Customers will be able to choose the date that the money is removed from their account monthly, and that will begin in November and end in April. Tuition for all classes for Sessions 2-4, plus the $50 per dance costume deposit, will be included in the monthly payment plan. Customers will need to pay the costume balance separately in December or January when costume costs are determined. A checking or savings account, or debit or credit card, may be used for this option. When using a checking or savings account, please be prepared to provide your bank’s routing number as well as your account number. If funds are not sufficient for the monthly transaction, you will receive one email from the registration software and one phone call reminder from the front desk staff. If the payment is not made within the week, the student will not be permitted to participate in their program. Families who have fees on a payment plan and whose charges are repeatedly denied will no longer be allowed to use a payment plan option.
  • School-year option: Register for all classes for Sessions 2-4 and make a full payment at the start of Session 2. When using this option, you will receive a 5% discount on your tuition. The $50 costume deposit will not be included in that discount, but will be included in the total due at the start of Session 2. Customers will need to pay the costume balance separately in December or January when costume costs are determined. Check, cash or debit/credit cards are accepted.
